Hey Rob, thanks for dropping by. I've followed your writing for quite awhile. My wife and I actually talked about possibly buying your micro ISV when you were selling it. I definitely understand how that 9 to 5 thing doesn't work very well for creative people writing software.

In case you're wondering why I'm linking to a really old post of yours, I actually wrote this a couple of years ago on my regular blog. I'm importing all my posts into this blog so that my tech writing is distinct. Wordpress import doesn't seem to want to work so I'm having to do it manually. That makes it look like this is a recent post when it really isn't.

It's both good and bad you're feeling the way you are.

Bad because...well, it means you're one of "us." Those people who can't seem to be happy just plugging away at a 9 to 5 without the need for it to be fulfilling. You're going to have a hard time finding a place that makes you happy.

You will likely have to change an environment to be closer to your vision, or go independent and create an environment from scratch.

And it's good because it means you're one of "us."
